>  SCAD Museum offers free admission to active-duty military
June 30, 2015

The SCAD Museum of Art is pleased to announce its continued participation in the Blue Star Museums program. Free museum admission will be offered to active-duty military personnel and their families through Labor Day, September 7, 2015.

The National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums across America all partner each year to offer free admission to the nation’s service members, including the National Guard and Reserve. This year, more than 2,000 museums in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa are taking part in the program.

"The SCAD Museum of Art is thrilled to participate in the Blue Star Museum initiative for the third consecutive year. It is incredibly rewarding for us to offer free admission to all active-duty military and their families as a thank you for their dedicated service,” said Melissa Messina, Program Manager at SCAD Museum of Art. “We welcome those from the region, as well as those who are visiting the area, to enjoy all the museum has to offer."

Last year more than 190 people visited the SCAD Museum of Art as a part of the Blue Star Museums program and more than 700,000 people nationally took advantage of the initiative by visiting participating museums.
