Polacolor Type 108

This is a closely cropped image of world-renowned Brazilian footballer Edison Arantes do Nascimento, best known by his nickname Pelé. Leaning slightly against a white background and resting a soccer ball against the side of his head, Pelé looks directly at the camera, engaging the viewer with a big smile. This candid portrait is lighthearted and playful and feels atypical of Warhol’s more serious images.
