Christmas Poinsettias-White

Andy Warhol’s out-of-focus image of a cluster of fake white Christmas poinsettias is a reference to his known fascination with the facade of beauty. Enamored with the images of over glamorized celebrities and the Hollywood plasticized look, Warhol was also captivated by items of mass production and symbols of consumerism. In this image, each object can be seen as a stand-in for his typical portrait subjects, as each plastic flower is treated as its own distinct entity.
